Leopard network bugs

I have been using Apple's Leopard since it's release. I upgraded because i wanted to re-install my powerbook G4 (it had accumulated too much junk with two years of trying out all kinds of beta software). Anyway, I've upgraded now, and it's mostly fine... except, if you are behind a proxy (like at work) many things appear to have problems. Some of the applications that I have noticed that do have problems:
1) Gmail notifier for mac... crashes after login. Funnily, it appears to read the emails correctly the first time.. but thereafter, it cannot remain functioning.
2) Registering your leopard.. doesn't work from my office.
3) Google calendar to iCal synch using google's link. fails to update.
4) I got a .Mac account to backup and store data... but appears that won't work behind a proxy because it somehow calls back to apple.Mac without going to the proxy. Apple's tech support is still working on a reply to my query.

All of these work fine when I'm at home, and there's no proxy.

So.. if you see any of those pc and Mac comparison ads... take it with a generous fistfull of rock salt!
